UNITED STATES GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL (USGBC)
The United States Green Building Council, or USGBC, is a Washington,DC-based group dedicated to the development of cost-efficient, energy-saving green buildings. Their mission is to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built, and operated. They enable an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life. The group is best known for their leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certification process, which lists buildings as LEED-certified if they meet certain energy-saving and sustainability criteria.
GREENGUARD CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
The GreenGuard product certification is considerably more stringent than those established by OSHA. The GreenGuard Certification Program was founded in 1999 to establish a true third-party certification based on proven emissions criteria used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the State of Washington, the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED program, OSHA, and the World Health Organization.
GREENGUARD CHILDREN AND SCHOOLS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
This certification program meets the minimum requirements of California's CA Section 01350 for testing chemical emissions from building products used in schools, offices, and other sensitive environments.
ENERGY STAR
The Energy Star program was developed in 1992 by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a method to identify and promote energy efficient products. Products carrying this symbol provide a way for businesses and consumers to save money through increased energy efficiency, while at the same time protecting our environment.
INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE (IECC)
This model energy building code produced by the International Code Council (ICC) is developed through a public hearing process by national experts under the direction of the ICC. The code contains minimum energy efficiency provisions required for residential and commercial buildings, offering both prescriptive and performance based approaches. The code also contains building envelope requirements for thermal performance and air leakage.
AHRI INSTITUTE & GAMA CERTIFIED
The Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute and GAMA Certified standards and guidelines are used throughout the world. They stimulate innovation and are the stepping stones to improving product performance and efficiency. Through the use of industry standards and voluntary participation in AHRI's certification programs, consumers can be assured manufacturers’ performance claims are accurate and rated uniformly, enabling fair comparisons.
